Mardi Gras Ball
Each year, a Mardi Gras Ball is held to honor the King and Queen, members, and sponsors and features live entertainment. Tickets to the ball are available for purchase by contacting one of the RCEPC members. Learn more about the Mardi Gras Ball.
The Krewe of Aquarius was established in 2001 and is open for anyone to join for a membership fee of $25.00. You may join as an individual, business, group, or organization. The Krewe of Aquarius functions directly under the RCEPC to host a free parade that is family oriented and close to home.

Mardi Gras Parade
The show is free and you get to pick out your choice of viewing area. A great time for all and lots of “THROW ME SOMETHING MISTER” is the call of the night as beads and trinkets are tossed to the onlookers. Throngs of people line the streets beginning at the Logansport High School and down Hwy. 5 onto Hwy. 84 and Main Street.
The parade consists of themed floats, mounted divisions, masked riders, the “Gator” and always a few surprises. Come to Logansport, join the Krewe of Aquarius and enter a float. You will make a child and even the grownups smile.

River City Fest
The River City Fest will be held on the banks of the Sabine River in the Dennis Freeman Riverfront Memorial Park. River City Fest is held in May. Events include a carnival, Walk-A-Thon (usually to raise funds for various causes), parade, Treasure Hunt (for $500.00 prize), entertainment – various musical groups, etc. Performances on the amphitheater stage throughout the festival; there are craft booths, lots of great food booths, car show, face painting, games of skill,street parade, pet parade, and pageant. A name band plays for a big dance on Saturday night. A fun time has been ordered for all that attend. Please watch our news announcements for updates.
July 4th Celebration
The adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, and the declaration of our Independence by the United States from Great Britain is a day of celebration throughout the United States. Generally regarded as America’s birthday, July 4, has been a federally recognized holiday since 1870 and federal workers started receiving holiday pay in 1941 for Independence Day.
The colors of the day are red, white and blue from T-shirts to shorts and sandals, hats and umbrellas. Although most Americans respect the guidelines set forth in regards to the flag not being worn as an item of clothing, Americans do like to dress in the patriotic colors on America’s birthday.
Every year in the United States, we still celebrate that independence with parades, festivals, barbecues, fireworks and picnics, and in Logansport it also means a day on the Sabine River or in the Dennis Freeman Memorial River Park and free dis-organized doo dah parade. The magnificent display of the red, white, and blue fireworks bursting in the late night sky on the Fourth of July over the Sabine River and the flags waving over our River Front remind us why we are celebrating. Our freedom today is because of all the brave souls who came before us who risked their lives and the many that paid with their lives in order that we may enjoy enduring freedom.
Each year the DeSoto Fire District No.1 sponsors the fireworks display for the July 4th celebration held on the banks of the River Park. The celebration on the riverbanks of the Sabine draws spectators from throughout DeSoto Parish and its many communities, Shreveport, and communities to the west in Texas. Without a doubt this is the best free fireworks show over the Sabine River in DeSoto Parish. Come spend the day with us, picnic in the park, cruise the river, and stay for the evening show. Don’t go home till we turn out the lights!
The fireworks display is paid for by DeSoto Fire District No. 1 through the weekly games of Bingo held each week at the Logansport District Station. Proceeds from Bingo and food sales purchase the fireworks for the event.

Logansport Christmas Festival and Parade
Each year the Logansport Christmas Festival Committee hosts Christmas themed events for the community. This was the first event the River City Christmas Planning committee hosted and it has grown into a year round celebration for the community of Logansport that has continued annually. Logansport Christmas Festivities include the Logansport Christmas Parade, Miss Merry Christmas Pageant, and a firework display. All monies raised are used to purchase new lighting arrangements, fireworks, and awards for the pageant and parade.
