Fishing
Fishing on the Sabine River is always an adventure. Anglers of all ages, and all walks of life, can be found trying their luck at landing the river’s bounty.
The river provides sports fishermen the opportunity to fish for largemouth bass, crappie, sand bass, catfish to name a few of the wide variety of fish that call the river and Toledo Bend home. The river is also home to Louisiana alligators, which can be found in the many slews and creek areas along the banks.
Come to Logansport, Louisiana and try your hand, you won’t be sorry you did. One of the biggest events on the Sabine River at Logansport is the Annual Sand Bass Tournament. You can fish along the bank within the Dennis Freeman Memorial Park or you can launch your boat from the conveniently located boat launch, just north of the Railroad Bridge on Veteran’s Memorial Blvd. Another launch site is just a short drive up the Marshall Rd. to Garrett’s park. Bait for fishing is available at several local businesses.
